About Us
Welcome to WMI!
We are a Foursquare Certified institute in accordance with standards set by The Foursquare Church, whose history of innovative, inspirational leadership in the Church-at-large is renown worldwide. As a fully online institute, we provide comprehensive biblical education and training to those seeking to deepen their faith, expand their knowledge of Scripture, and prepare for ministry or leadership roles in the church.
WMI was created in 2017 (then called SoCal U) to provide a means for ministry and leadership training in the local church. From the very beginning, the faculty of the institute has been made up of graduate-level specialists from LPU (Life Pacific University), TKU (The King’s University), FPU (Fresno Pacific University), or equivalent. The modality of the institute began as face-to-face and then transitioned an online format using the Canvas learning management system provided by Foursquare ahead of the Covid pandemic. The online format features two types of courses. Weekly classes that include recorded video lectures and live Zoom meetings with professors; and Saturday intensive modules featuring noted speakers with specialized topics.
Our Mission
The mission of Western Ministry Institute is to equip and empower men and women—through Bible-based and Spirit-led principles—to serve in the local church, establish new churches, serve cross-culturally or develop marketplace ministry. To accomplish this, Western Ministry Institute promotes servant-edifying courses that support biblical-theological education and practical ministry application.
